Business Description
AutoNation is the second largest automotive dealer in the US, with 2022 revenue of $27 billion and over 250 dealerships, 53 collision centers, 16 AutoNation USA used-vehicle stores, a captive lender, four auction sites, and three parts distributors across 20 states in Sunbelt metropolitan areas. New-vehicle sales generate half of revenue, with used vehicle, parts, repair services, and auto financing also offered. Formerly Republic Industries, it spun off waste management unit Republic Services in 1999 and car rental businesses ANC Rental in 2000. Founded by Wayne Huizenga in the 1990s, AutoNation brought the rollup acquisition strategy to auto retailing, proving to be a successful move.
